Overlooking the Otavalo valley sits Parque Condor, built by the Dutch government as an educational center that provides care and training to injured raptors and teaches the public about the importance of keeping raptor populations healthy. Guided tours are available in English, Spanish or Dutch. A new road makes access quick and easy. See many exotic birds including falcons, owls, and even the largest flighted bird–the nearly-extinct Andean Condor. There’s a children’s playground as well. The views are out of this world. Flight demonstrations are offered at 11:30am and 4:30pm in a gorgeous amphitheater looking out over the valley stretching between Otavalo’s two closest volcanoes–Imbabura and Cotacachi. The park is closed on Mondays.
